Nespresso Coffee Machines
The Essenza Mini is a great option if you're looking to make your favorite coffee drink at home, but don't have much counter space. It's the smallest model, but still produces excellent espresso.
All Nespresso machines require periodic descaling to remove internal mineral buildup. They alert you when it's time to descale and is usually easy to clean.
1. OriginalLine
OriginalLine is Nespresso's original line of machines which use their hermetically-sealed pods. They produce coffee and espresso and are the most affordable nespresso machine options. They also have a wider range of capsule and drink options than VertuoLine machines. If you prefer larger drinks, then you'll need to choose the VertuoLine line instead.
The VertuoLine is a more recent line that uses more sophisticated techniques and specifications. It has better performance than the OriginalLine. They have a wider selection of brew sizes, including 0.85 ounces of ristretto 1.35 ounces of double espresso, 5.8 ounces of lungo, and 14 ounces of Alto XL. They also offer a quicker process known as centrifusion, which rotates the pods at 7,000 RPM so that more water to pass through for better extraction.
Alongside improving the technology, VertuoLine has also increased the number of reusable capsules they sell and introduced an environmentally friendly packaging system. They use 80percent recycled aluminium in their coffee capsules, and they intend to increase that percentage in future products.
The Lattissima Pro is one of the best-performing nespresso coffee machines available. It has a touchscreen display which lets you alter the settings. It also has a rapid heating time. It has a powerful steaming tool for creating café-worthy milk and foam texture. It's not as compact as other models, however it is small in size and a capsule that can be removed that makes it easy to clean.
2. Vertuoline
The Vertuoline is a newer version of the Nespresso line-up. It is the only machine to make espresso and coffee. It also includes a built-in milk frother. This is a great choice for those who love a variety black drinks, but don't want the hassle of making them separately.
Vertuoline machines use a different pod system that is different from the OriginalLine. The pods have custom barcodes on the outside edge that the machines scan to determine what size of drink they're making (ristretto or lungo, or cappuccino) and automatically add the appropriate amount of water. This eliminates the need for an additional container of milk and makes it easier to create the perfect espresso or coffee.
Vertuoline machines are superior in terms of quality. They create crema that is more like the thick foam you find in the coffee shop, in contrast to the lighter Crema produced by the OriginalLine machines. The OriginalLine machines have the most flavor, however, because they produce 19 bars of pressure in order to better extract the flavor from the espresso ground.
The newer VertuoLine machines also use a process known as Centrifusion to spin the capsules faster and more evenly than the Original Line machines. This improves the speed at which the water is infused and enhances the overall quality of the drink. It also allows the Vertuoline machines to use a lower temperature which decreases extraction time and increases the strength of the espresso.
3. Original
This entry-level Original machine is a good choice for those who don't have plenty of space or funds to purchase a larger machine. It has a smaller tank and capsule container, yet has 19 bars of pressure. This is more than enough to make the espressos and coffees that the majority of people purchase Nespresso for.
The machine is sleek with a black design and the top-facing buttons control all functions from turning on to rinsing or making a cup. This is a common feature of Nespresso machines, and it makes them simple to learn and operate.
This model also includes a jug to create drinks using foam. It also has 11 different milk temperature settings for customizing the texture of your latte or coffee, and it can make both long and short cappuccinos and lattes.
The model comes with buttons that are marked to make it easy to select beverages. The base of the holder for capsules has raised squares to control the amount of pressure that is applied to each pod in order to produce the desired size. This is a good method to ensure that the correct amount of pressure is used, and makes it easier to see when the machine needs descaled. The machine can also be utilized with capsules from other brands, including Dualit's Nespresso compatible capsules.
4. Creatista
This is the machine for you should you be looking for an Nespresso that can make both milk-based drinks as well as espresso. It's the most recent addition to Nespresso's Creatista line and is made by Breville (known as Sage in Europe). Sage, Heston Blumenthal’s company manufactures the machine, while Breville developed the thermocoil heating system.
The most interesting feature of the brand new Creatista is its automated steam and frothering system. Simply place your milk pitcher on the temperature sensor below the wand, and the machine will take care of all the work for you. It has 11 settings, allowing you to customize the texture of your milk. You can also manually freeze your milk if prefer the traditional method.
Another excellent feature of the Creatista is its rapid heat-up time - it's heated up in less than 3 seconds, which is much quicker than other Nespresso machines. The machine's design is elegant and stylish and has a stainless steel body with brushed finish that looks beautiful on any countertop. The high-resolution LCD provides simple navigation for setting, preparing and maintaining the machine. The machine is available in four colors including black truffle (pictured), sea salt (pictured), damson blue (pictured) and stainless steel. The Creatista measures 6.7 15 x 12 inches (WxDxH). The OriginalLine is the smallest Nespresso machine, so it will fit on any counter.
5. CitiZ
This sleek espresso maker from Nespresso occupies less counter space than similar models. It also comes with a folding cup tray that allows it to accommodate larger recipe glasses and mugs. This is a great feature for smaller kitchens, and makes it easier to use the machine for taller recipes. It's also easy to recreate popular cafe dishes thanks to the extraction system of 19 bars and the quick heat-up time.
The CitiZ Basic doesn't come with the milk frother. You can purchase one on its own or as part of the CitiZ&Milk Bundle. This option also includes the Aeroccino milk-steamer, so you can make creamy lattes and cappuccinos. This model can be used with reusable capsules however they are not included.
It has a large water tank that is 1 liter, and containers for used capsules that can accommodate nine to eleven capsules. Unlike premium coffee machine , it doesn't automatically empty used capsules after brewing; you need to raise and lower the holder to let the capsules out.
It's a straightforward machine, and the sleek design is easy to wipe clean. This model also offers the option of descaling, however there's no designated indicator or button, and the process isn't a breeze. Nespresso recommends using its own descaling system and then running it through after 300 to 1,200 cups depending on the hardness of your water. The drip tray, water tank, and capsule container are all easily washable for ease of cleaning.
6. Gran Lattissima
Gran Lattissima espresso and milk machine is a top-quality, single-serve espresso machine. It features a modern and stylish design with matte and glossy finishes as well as stainless steel accents and a touch-screen. It can prepare a wide variety of milk and coffee drinks at the touch of one button, such as Ristretto Espresso, Lungo Cappuccino Latte Macchiato Cafe Latte Flat White Foamed Milk and Hot Milk. It's compatible with OriginalLine and third-party Nespresso Pods (doesn't work with VertuoLine, Starbucks by Nespresso or Starbucks by Nespresso).
One of the major distinctions between this model and the earlier Lattissima Touch is that the latter has 9 drink presets, and only two of them are milk based drinks. It does not have the option to choose the milk texture you prefer for a particular recipe, but it is possible to do that on the Lattissima Pro.
This model comes with a reuseable milk container that is washable. You don't have to worry about purchasing fresh milk or an additional appliance for the machine. The container is easy to clean and can be emptied in seconds into the sink.
Another excellent characteristic of the Gran Lattissima is its energy-saving function and fast heat-up time. It has a large 44 oz water reservoir, and takes just 25 seconds to heat up. The drip tray and froth container can be easily removed to clean. Finally, it's easy to keep the machine in top condition with regular descaling and automatic cleaning cycles.
